Iloilo City assures crime-free, drug-free Dinagyang 2017
The Iloilo City Government assured to the public a crime-free, drug-free, and smoke-free celebration of the 2017 Dinagyang Festival, which highlights on January 20 to 22.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the world-renowned festival will remain a flagship feature of the Department of Tourism’s global campaign.
“Let us support to make Dinagyang truly live up to its expectations as a leading tourism, cultural, religious and socio-economic promotional vehicle and symbol of Iloilo City’s continuing progress and sustainable development,” said Mabilog.
The 2017 Dinagyang Festival banners the tagline “See, Feel, Love” and the theme “Communion of Communities with Santo Niño.”
Dinagyang will showcase some 10 competing tribes while Kasadyahan Regional Cultural Competition has attracted top festivals from all over Western Visayas and Negros Occidental.
The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) is eyeing P22-million budget for the successful hosting of the festival’s 49th edition.
IDFI President Ramon Cua Locsin said if available funds permit, they are planning to add financial subsidies to half a million each for the Dinagyang tribes.
