THE public will have a good preview today, Jan. 8, 2016, of the Iloilo Dinagyang Ati-atihan contest on Jan. 24.

The 10 competing tribes will take to the streets to show off their costumes and part of their final performances on competition day.

The tribes are expected to perform their best with prizes at stake for Best in Performance, Best in Costume, Best in Discipline and Overall performance.

The parade of tribes starts 3 p.m. in a carousel format with the 10 tribes divided into the five performance areas.

Tribu Ilonganon and Tribu Salognon will start off from Freedom Grandstand area; Tribu Dagatnon and Paghidaet at Ma. Clara; Tribu Baybayanon and Tribu Panayanon at Quezon-Ledesma; Tribu Pan-ay and Tribu Buntagala at Mabini-Delgado; and Tribu Atub-atub and Tribu Obrero at the Iloilo Capitol area.

After completing the parade, the tribes will then converge at the Freedom Grandstand for the launching ceremonies.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Congressman Jerry Treñas will deliver their messages and officially open the festival.

Expect heavy traffic in the fringes of City Proper districts as streets leading to the downtown area will be closed starting 1 p.m.
